Tips for Fail-free Bathroom Makeovers

Every now and again we fall victim to the urge to redecorate at least some part of our house. The best fix for this itch is to just let it out and the best outlet would be through bathroom makeovers. Why not? After all the bathroom is one of the smallest rooms in your house which means that it’s easy to decorate and even redecorate if you’re not happy on your first attempt. Here are a few things to consider so that your makeover becomes a success.

Pick Your Theme

The first step in redesigning your bathroom is to select a theme. Ask yourself what you want yourself and your guests to feel once they’re inside the bathroom. I suggest that you choose a theme that fits your personality. In fact give your bathroom its own small bathroom ideas; one that is complementary to your own. Once you’ve chosen a theme be sure to stick to it. Think of it like a term paper that requires you to stick to a certain topic. Going too far away from the topic makes it confusing and difficult to read, but focusing too much on a specific idea makes it monotonous and boring. Have some variety, but make sure that you don’t have too much.

Coordinate Your Colors

For small bathroom makeovers to be successful people should always make sure that the color is coordinated throughout the bathroom. This means that when repainting your bathroom, you must ensure that the colors you use match not only the theme but also the personality of your bathroom. The color of the room is probably what your guests notice first so make certain it stands out. In order to be consistent it is also necessary that you coordinate the finishes. For instance you may want to have a metal finish for your sink. Stay in theme by making the finishes of your towel bars, drawer pulls, knobs, and other accessories also metal.

Brighten Things Up

Among all the other things to consider in bathroom makeovers, lighting is something that you must not forget. Most folks go for the typical fluorescent lights which some consider unattractive. Experts suggest that you use halogen lights as they are the nearest thing to natural sunlight. Adding mirrors will also shed some light on this matter as natural light from the window will bounce off these mirrors. It is advisable that you position the mirror or mirrors opposite the window so as to capture as much natural light as possible.
