Commercial Truck Tires and Tractor Tire Chains Need Special Installation

There are many times when a little extra traction may be needed to operate a vehicle effectively in both the home’s yard and the farmer’s field. While ATV tire chains are often only considered as being used for driving a vehicle through a muddy field, there are many times when a smaller garden vehicle may be needed some extra traction as well. Since a truck can be used for a number of different jobs, it is a good idea to keep a set of chains on hand in case a situation arises when they are needed.

When it comes time to install those new tire chains on your cheap mud tires, be sure to park the vehicle on a flat surface that is not grassy or covered in dirt and unlock the hydrostatic transmission. For added safety, it is always a good idea to put a wheel block behind the front wheel to prevent rolling during the installation process. Also be sure to put two jacks on the rear for proper support and added safety. Once everything is set in place, remove the key and set it aside.

Start the installation process by laying the chains flat on the ground in the proper position for easy placement on the tires. By starting at the top and wrapping the tractor tire chains around the tire as completely as possible, you will ensure that proper coverage is achieved. Reaching inside will allow you to place the inside loop of the chain into the proper position on the wheel. Once the chains are in the best possible position and spread out evenly over the truck tire, use the hardware clips to lock the chain in place.

After working on and completing the installation on the first wheel, the same process should be done for the other three. Taking the vehicle for a short ride after all of the chains are installed will allow you to see if everything was installed correctly. This procedure can also apply to truck tire chains as well.
